The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde delegation reaped accolades at the National Model United Nations-New York (NMUN-NY) 2016 Conference B held last March 27-31, 2016 at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel.
Benildean delegates ranked second over-all with a back-to-back Distinguished Delegation Award in one of the biggest annual Model UN conferences in the world comprising of over 5, 000 students from almost two hundred universities and colleges around the world.
Student representatives of DLS-CSB’s Consular and Diplomatic Affairs program also received an Outstanding Delegates Award in the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III).
Their other citations include: Outstanding Position Paper in the General Assembly Second Committee (GA2); Outstanding Position Paper in the General Assembly Fourth Committee (GA4); Outstanding Position Paper in the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III); Outstanding Position Paper in the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW); Outstanding Position Paper in the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR); and, Outstanding Position Paper in the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
The Benildean delegation is composed of thirty-six Consular and Diplomatic Affairs students led by Nina Mahmood and David Lanuza with faculty advisers Prof. Catherine Samaniego and Dean George Binay.
