MONSTROUS is a contemporary streetwear collection that draws inspiration from the intersections found in mainstream depictions of Monsters, and the Queer experience of gender and sexuality, as two groups that predominantly exist outside of societal norms.

Inspired by traits attributed to monster biology such as mutation and metamorphosis, the collection serves as an analogy for the cathartic celebration of once suppressed Queerness as it plays with fabric manipulation, organic and structural forms, vibrant colors, and visceral, eye-catching graphics to illustrate the same careful chaos that one feels when they finally allow themselves to “mutate” and be seen.

K Acevedo is a genderqueer, Filipino, experimental-streetwear designer with an intuitive, jazz-like approach to fashion that riffs off of chaos and contemplation. With a sense of childlike wonder, a deep love for storytelling, and a fascination with the macabre and monstrous, K seamlessly integrates narrative and artistry in their fashion through print design and fabric manipulation to create thought-provoking, visceral works that glow grotesque.
