To Be Prepared for Living, Not Just for a Living

First, teach minds, second, touch hearts and third, transform lives.

Here at Benilde we sum up our educational philosophy in three short phrases; first, teach minds, second, touch hearts and third, transform lives. By teaching minds we mean that we are serious about the education we give the young people who are entrusted to us, we’re serious about their professional competence, we want them to finish as real professionals. At the same time we want to touch hearts, it is our belief that education is best carried out in that personal relationship that exists between teacher and student and so we ask our teachers to be very respectful of their students, to treat them with dignity and to value the uniqueness of each one. And thirdly, transforming lives which is the end result of the first two, of teaching minds and touching hearts, then lives are transformed. We are here to help our students not only be prepared for a living but prepared for living. That is the kind of education we want to give.
