Through loss and pain, people rediscover the power of self-love.
It marks the pivotal moment when they choose to no longer be defined by the pain, but by the strength they’ve gained through it.

Echoes of Scathed embodies the journey of becoming whole again. This collection reflects the transformative power of healing, the courage to reclaim one’s narrative, and the quiet beauty found in resilience. Each piece draws parallel to the five stages of grief—denial, bargaining, anger, depression, and acceptance—interpreted through abstract elements that mirror the emotional depth of each stage.

Echoes of Scathed stands as a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is always a glimmer of light and a chance to emerge stronger.

Zia Audrey is a fashion design student specializing in women’s ready-to-wear. She perceives fashion as a medium that goes beyond aesthetics. To her, it is a deeply personal and powerful form of self-expression— one that can articulate emotions and stories that words often cannot. Her work is rooted in personal narratives, creating garments that resonate emotionally and foster meaningful connections with every wearer.

In creating this collection, I relied heavily on intangible elements that manifest emotional experiences. My ultimate objective was to adopt an intentional and introspective approach, using design elements that closely mirror the depth of my personal story. I drew upon the framework of the five stages of grief, associating specific emotions with each stage and researching visual images that most effectively represented them. The creative process involved extensive trial and error, as the manipulation of delicate fabrics played a vital role in each piece. This process challenged me creatively and pushed me beyond my perceived limitations, allowing me to achieve outcomes I did not previously know I was capable of. Ultimately, this journey provided me with a clearer sense of my identity as a designer and the direction I aspire to pursue, grounded in emotional storytelling and conceptual depth.
