Mangan Ta, kapampangan for “Kain na,” draws inspiration from the process of cooking shrimp; an act of love rooted in Kapampangan traditions and cuisine. It reflects the designer’s exploration of translating personal memories and artistic practice into fashion, while reinterpreting elements from her mother’s capstone collection back in UP Clothing Tech.
Treating clothing as a medium, Monica Cortes approaches design as an extension of her artistic practice. Drawing from her background in visual art, the rhythm of painting translates into deliberate choices in texture, structure, and tone.
