There’s a particular kind of silence that lingers after adolescence, especially within the walls of a catholic all-girls school institutions where order outweighed individuality. The Wild Child is a collection that reclaims the rigid school uniform as a canvas for defiant artistry, transforming symbols of control into declarations of selfhood. Inspired by the theatrical chaos of the Ballets Russes, it collides discipline with rebellion through exaggerated silhouettes, mismatched prints, and intricate patchwork. Each piece becomes a visual dialogue between repression and self-discovery, echoing the quiet rebellions once tucked beneath pleats and collars. Ultimately, The Wild Child becomes an ode to the girls who grew up within those caged halls that are restless, aching, and determined to reclaim their voices.

Kyle Cuarteros is a designer who creates from within, where emotion stirs, memory lingers, and restraint is meant to be undone, leaving its mark. Her designs grow out of what feels unspoken and the in-between, shaped by how she remembers and reinterprets them. Each garment becomes a quiet defiance, a confession stitched from honesty and imperfections. Guided by her own inner world, Kyle creates garments that carry traces of identity that are tender, raw and deeply human.

Creating my Wild Child collection made me confront how much my design instinct comes from revisiting restraint, memory, and the rules that shaped me, then choosing to undo them with intention. I came to see myself as a designer who breaks structure on purpose, embracing femininity and sexuality in ways that feel honest, raw, and personal. My initial vision began with exaggerated, theatrical silhouettes inspired by rebellion and chaos. As the process unfolded, the work softened and shifted toward deconstruction and more wearable forms that felt closer to the body and lived experience. This shift grounded the collection, allowing the designs to speak more clearly while staying true to their defiant spirit.
