CILIO: The Orange Shroud is an avant-garde streetwear collection that represents the experience of living with anxiety. Inspired by the designer’s personal journey, it focuses on the feeling of emotional pressure and the need to be seen and understood. The collection uses oversized silhouettes to reflect emotional heaviness, while exposed seams and deconstructed details show what is usually hidden beneath a composed appearance. Each piece is designed to make internal struggles visible, serving both as personal expression and as a way to give awareness to those who are unfamiliar with mental health.

Angeline Hernandez is a fashion designer whose work explores the intersection of personal experience and emotion. Growing up with anxiety, she often felt misunderstood, which led her to develop a personal awareness of mental health that now shapes her identity as a designer. She allows her mental and emotional state to guide her creative direction. Her process begins by acknowledging what she feels, then translating that into construction, proportion, and form. Beyond aesthetics, she aims to build a design practice that advocates for mental health awareness and understanding through fashion. Through her work, she aims to create space where emotion is acknowledged rather than silenced.

The hardest part of designing this collection was working with a concept that was closely tied to my mental health and emotional triggers. There were moments when even my professor questioned if I could fully execute it without getting overwhelmed. Working through that pushed me to understand my limits, slow down, and be more intentional with how I approached my work instead of letting it consume me. I want people to see the experimentation stage of my process, because that’s where everything really happens—the trial and error, the emotions turning into form, and the small breakthroughs after failure. It shows the collection as something that grew through process and reflection, not just a finished look.
