“Growing Pains” is a collection exploring the complex relationship between girls and women, and the emotional tension in between. It reflects the mutual admiration between mothers and daughters—young girls raiding mom’s closet, mothers mirroring their daughters’ style. This closeness entangles, becoming clumsy and messy, as the desire to reflect one another blurs their differences. Oversized silhouettes express the awkwardness of growth, while playful beads, buttons, and bright colors highlight the collision of youth and age.
Yvonne is a designer who builds from the things she stumbles upon—snippets from media, passing sights, quiet encounters, and oddly specific niches that catch her attention. Her work grows out of these small, almost throwaway moments, shaped by how she notices and connects to them. Playful yet thoughtful, her designs piece together fragments of the everyday into visuals and ideas that feel strangely familiar.
