Ishah is the Hebrew word for ‘woman’ first found in the first book of the Bible during the beginning of the creation of mankind.

Rooted in this meaning, Ishah is an homage to the Scriptures, reflecting Biblical femininity and dedicated to advancing the truth of our identities as women created in the image of God—a chosen and beloved woman.

By combining romantic and sartorial silhouettes, Ishah intends to create womenswear inspired by the stories of great women from the Bible: Queen Esther, Ruth, Deborah, Rahab, and the Noble Woman from Proverbs 31—translating their characters into clothing for the modern Christian woman.

At the heart of her works lies the vision of Pandhora, a designer who integrates her faith into her craft.

Just like her graduation collection’s brand name, Ishah, she is a woman who was created in the image of her Creator. In this, she draws inspiration to share the truth of the gospel and her journey as a follower of Christ, through fashion.

“And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” Luke 1:45

The ultimate test in designing Ishah from scratch would have been the countless revisions for each look. There were times that it felt like I was running out of creative ideas to the point that my mind had just hit the wall, and I couldn’t help but ask God, “How could I translate such an unusual idea to something uncomplicated?”. For some time I had wanted my collection to be easily understood by its audience, but then I realized that as a designer, we are meant to share our ideas and creations, not conform to the expectations of the world. What I had learned pushing through this collection is that as people created after God’s own image, our creativity comes from Him—it could never be a result of our own minds. As a creative, it humbles me deeply that the God who created the universe, knowing that every single creation would be pleasing and beautiful even with just a single word from His mouth, desires for us to create with Him.
