“Entropy” is an exploration of the unfiltered reality of change, where the trajectory of the world inevitably leads to chaos, an effect of the cruelty of time. Chaos causes change, which reveals new perspectives to ponder upon. Achieved through a juxtaposition of extremes and deficiencies, it reflects how disorder seeps into every facet of existence.

Rey Alfonso “Fonzy” Saquido approaches design through the study of entropy, embracing imperfection, disorder, and evolution. Rooted in Filipino rebellion and adaptability, their work rejects rigid ideals of beauty in favor of honesty and disruption. They believe clothing should accommodate realities and confront change. Rather than offering comfort or perfection, their designs reveal the pressures of time as it alters the body and identity. For them, constraint signals life in motion, not failure.

The design process is extensive and complicated, however, research became the forerunner of peaking my interest through answering thesis questions. It lead me to explore many paths and that is how my collection materialized even before production. Through detailed notes, experimentation, and reminiscing experiences I have pinpointed how “entropy” appears in my vision. Research is what aided me in refining my ever evolving vision. Besides the core concept, researching innovative textiles and skills were the aspects that shifted the most. Numerous pivots were made due to constrictions; silhouettes, techniques, and fabrics have deviated from the initial vision. Despite such constraints, research and experimentation has led me to a path that still honors the initial vision.
