Notable Stories in January 2025

Sinulid: Threaded Experience showcased graduating Fashion Design and Merchandising students’ collections, highlighting themes of empowerment, individuality, and creativity. The event was followed by an exhibit at the 12th Floor Gallery, which opened on February 5 and will run until May 24.

On December 13, 2024, exchange students from UniLaSalle France looked back fondly on their time at Benilde as they bid farewell. The recently concluded exchange program with UniLaSalle was part of Benilde Global’s effort to promote international education and cultural exchange, benefiting both students and institutions.

The College and St. Mary’s University, Twickenham, London, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance educational opportunities through joint research, faculty and student exchanges, and cultural immersion initiatives. This partnership fosters global collaboration, uniting both institutions in their commitment to innovation, inclusion, and integrating faith with education.

Benilde has launched the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Business Solutions and Applications (BSBA-BSAA) to meet the demands of the digital economy, featuring a new Financial Technology (FinTech) elective. This course equips students with cutting-edge knowledge in blockchain, digital payments, and automated financial services, preparing them for high-demand careers in business and technology.

Global Game Jam Returns to Face-to-Face, Sparks Creativity with 22 Unique Games

For three days, from January 24 to 26, the Augusto-Rosario Gonzalez Theater in Taft Campus buzzed with creativity and collaboration during the Global Game Jam (GGJ) 2025. Participants, including students, professionals, and hobbyists, developed 22 unique games inspired by the theme “Bubbles,” pushing the boundaries of innovation. This event, organized by the Gamers Union for Innovation and Leadership Development (GUILD) and the Game Design and Development program of the School of Management and Information Technology, marked a triumphant return to a full face-to-face format after four years. Benilde has proudly hosted GGJ since 2012, showcasing the immense talent and collaborative spirit of the Benildean Community.

On January 31, the annual Saint Benilde Romancon Community Engagement Awards was held at the Design+Arts Theater. The event, now in its third year, recognizes the outstanding contributions of Benildean students, associates, and community partners to community engagement. These awards celebrate the dedication to the Lasallian Mission and the collective effort to improve society.

    • The application for those interested to apply for the Advanced Study Grants for enrollments covered by the 2nd Term of Academic Year 2024 – 2025 is now open through an Online Form.
    • There is an invitation to serve as a Human Monitor for the upcoming BEE Online Testing. Your role will be essential in ensuring a fair and smooth testing experience for all participants.
    • real time deductions on attendance deficiencies covering period January 1-15, 2025 will be deferred for January 25, 2025 payout but instead to take effect on February 10 payout. As assessed, this is due to significant turn-out of the deductions generated on the concerned associates’ payroll. Moving forward, may we remind everyone to consistently check your attendance in Traverse.
    • PODO, through its Strategic Services and Partnerships Unit, offers opportunities for associates to enhance their skills and competencies while contributing to the realization of the College’s strategic goals and objectives. Through Professional Development Plans (PDP), associates can obtain a grant for external training, seminars, conferences, and conventions that foster individual growth and organizational success.
    • PODO officially announces the start of the Mid-Year Performance Evaluation for Administrative Staff and Support Staff, covering the period from July to December 2024, within the Academic Year 2024-2025. This evaluation will be conducted using the platform available at https://apps1.benilde.edu.ph/paf/ from January 31 – February 7, 2025.

  • Payroll Helpdesk
    • Each year, all companies are required to submit an Alphabetical List to the BIR detailing employee income, tax withheld, and any adjustments for compliance. To fulfill this mandate, The College conducts an annual income and tax reconciliation or tax annualization exercise at year-end. This process determines whether employees are due a Tax Refund or have a Tax Deficiency. Refunds are paid directly to employees, while tax deficits, already advanced and remitted by DLS-CSB to the BIR, are collected from the affected Associates. Tax Refunds: Will be paid on January 10, 2025; and Tax Deficits: Will be recovered in four (4) equal installments from January 25 to March 10, 2025. 
    • Please be advised that the Certificate of Compensation Payment/Tax Withheld or BIR Form 2316 for the Taxable Year 2024 will be distributed starting January 30, 2025. A Google Drive link will be sent to your Benilde email, where the form can be accessed and downloaded.

    • The CIC-Media Relations Unit (CIC-MRU) is responsible for overseeing and approving all media requests, which include media interviews and releasing information to media specifically for print (broadsheets, magazines), broadcast (television, radio), and online press. These also include filming requests (from movie production companies, advertising agencies, media organizations, TV networks, and vloggers/social media influencers), photo shoots, and media coverages (photo or video coverage) within the College’s premises. Similarly, outside of the College, any events or activities that require media coverage must also have approval and clearance from the CIC-MRU.

    • To better accommodate day-to-day needs of the College, we are pleased to inform the community that the Petty Cash disbursement limit for cash advance and reimbursements will be increased from P1,000.00 to P2,000.00 effective February 1, 2025. This memo supersedes our previous memo OVPF-CFRM-12102023-20 with subject Redeployment of Cashier’s Petty Cash Fund dated October 12, 2023. All procedures for the use, schedule and replenishment remain unchanged.

    • The MRF deadline for CAPEX and OPEX is on March 28. Requests for office supplies, toner, and inks have a separate deadline.
