Notable Stories in May 2025

The recent midterm elections on May 12 recognized the steadfast commitment of several Benildean alumni, whose dedication to public service is evident in their transformative community projects. From housing solutions to youth empowerment, their contributions to the society reflect values nurtured during their time at Benilde.

At Hotel Benilde’s Banquet Hall in the AKIC Campus on May 8, 2025, Benilde’s School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management (SHRIM) sealed a new partnership with AsiaWorld Hospitality. This agreement paves the way for practical training and micro-credentialing programs for students and faculty. It builds on Benilde’s legacy, first marked by the recognition as a Certified Guest Service Property in 2017.

Sixteen startups from the Benilde Trailblazer Startup incubation program have joined and finished the rigorous BAJ Accelerator May Cohort 2025. BAJ Accelerator is a six-day intensive program in New York that supports early-stage companies with expert-led workshops, targeted coaching and meaningful networking opportunities.

MCAD Manila’s newest exhibition, Moments of Delay, explores time, hesitation, and uncertainty through contemporary artworks. Curated by Arianna Mercado and James Tana, with Joselina “Yeyey” Cruz overseeing the museum’s direction, the exhibition challenges conventional ideas of past, present, and future.

Benilde has partnered with Philippine Airlines to provide students with hands-on training in the aviation and tourism industries. Formalized on May 8, 2025, the agreement opens doors for internships, mentorship programs, and structured learning experiences across various PAL departments, allowing students to gain real-world industry exposure.

Thanksgiving Mass and Blessing of the New D+A Campus Contemplation Room

On May 15, the community celebrated Founder’s Day, marking the 75th anniversary of Saint John Baptist de La Salle’s proclamation as the Universal Patron of Catholic Educators by Pope Pius XII in 1950. The occasion was honored with a Thanksgiving Mass at 10 AM in the Design+Arts Theater, 5F, Design+Arts Campus, presided over by Most Rev. Teodoro Bacani, Jr., D.D., Bishop-Emeritus of Novaliches. Following the Mass, attendees gathered for the Blessing of the New Contemplation Room on the Mezzanine Floor of the Design+Arts Campus, reaffirming our commitment to La Salle’s enduring legacy in education.

Tone-Up Thursday: Zumba Sessions

ODO has officially launched Tone-Up Thursday: Zumba Sessions, a weekly fitness event designed to bring energy and movement to the community. Starting June 5, participants can join the high-energy dance-based workout every Thursday from 5:20 PM to 6:30 PM at the 2F Gymnasium, Sports and Dorm Complex. Open to both seasoned Zumba enthusiasts and beginners, the event promises a fun and stress-relieving experience. Pre-registration is encouraged through the official link, ensuring that attendees secure their spot in this lively fitness session aimed at promoting wellness and community engagement.

Our student hatcheries, Vatel Restaurant at The Atrium and Chef’s Station at AKIC Campus, reopened in May. Show your support by dropping by and enjoying the delicious dishes crafted and served by Benildeans!

Free To Be Green: PCN EV Report for APRIL 2025 Announced

The Center for Built Environment and Logistics released a report on May 15, sharing insights into Benilde’s electric vehicle emissions data for April 2025. The report highlights how the Dong Feng Passenger Van, Savvice Electric Shuttle Service, and Traditional E-Jeep Shuttle Service have helped reduce the College’s carbon footprint through sustainable transport.

As we move forward, the Benildean Community is invited to embrace small, everyday choices that support a greener lifestyle. Whether it’s choosing eco-friendly transportation or simple habits that contribute to sustainability, every effort, big or small, makes a difference in creating a cleaner and more earth-friendly future.

Benilde Lady Blazers Advance to the Women's Volleyball Finals; Blazing Spikers Battle for a Spot!

The Benilde Lady Blazers have officially secured their place in the women’s volleyball finals against CSJL! Meanwhile, the Benilde Blazing Spikers will fight for their own finals slot in a deciding match this Friday, June 6, at 12:00 NN.

    • This is to update the community on the upgrading of our passenger elevators at the Design and Arts Campus. To provide an alternative option, we will temporarily operate the Service Elevators at Dominga and Muṅoz Area for regular passenger use and assign two (2) elevator operators for the convenience of the community.

    • As part of our ongoing travel reminder campaign initiated last year, we kindly encourage everyone to practice timely submission of travel-related requirements to ensure smooth processing: 60 working days before travel for local and international tours without a visa; and, 90 working days before travel for Europe and other international tours requiring visas.

    • We wish to inform the Benildean Community that our institution, through the Finance Office in coordination with Center for Facilities Maintenance and Campus Development (CFMCD) and Center for Built Environment and Logistics (CBEL), will be conducting a comprehensive physical inventory count and appraisal of fixed assets this coming June 2025.
