General Guidelines for Encountering Stray Cats
With the objective of adopting a safe and humane approach to managing the population of stray cats, the College organized a Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release (TNVR) service for the stray or feral cats found inside the campuses starting April 21. The initiative, spearheaded by the Center for Built Environment and Logistics (CBEL), was announced alongside the guidelines that Benildeans are enjoined to observe when they encounter a stray cat.
Petting and handling of feral or stray cats.
WHAT TO DO:
Walk away to prevent harm or injury.
Trapping or doing any act that may hurt the stray cat.
WHAT TO DO:
Report to the Center for Built Environment and Logistics (CBEL) any stray and feral cats that have intruded into campus facilities and buildings and may cause nuisance, injury, or harm. This will be addressed professionally using the TNVR services.
Feeding of stray cats.
WHAT TO DO:
Donate cat foods to CBEL, which handles the feeding of stray cats regularly.
Relocating stray cats.
WHAT TO DO:
Leave the cats where you found them. Stray animals are territorial, and removal of such animals from their established territory may attract or invite other strays to occupy the space left.
You Can Now Borrow Eco-Bags to Reduce Single-Plastic Use
Eco-bags are now will be available for borrowing as an alternative to single-use plastics. The initiative is in support of the College’s ban policy on single-use plastics as our effort to reduce the environmental impact of plastic pollution and to raise awareness on our consumption habits.
Benildeans can borrow eco-bags by leaving your Benilde ID to the Security Officer in exchange of the borrowed eco-bag. After use, kindly return the eco-bag clean and in good condition to the Security Officer to be able to claim your Benilde ID. In case of lost or defective eco-bag, applicable replacement fee based on size of the eco-bag must be paid at the Finance Department Cashier before you are allowed to retrieve your Benilde ID from the Security Officer.
You may also purchase your own eco-bag at Unboxed gift store at Greenway Square.
