The Bagong Pilipinas program is giving overseas Filipino workers a chance to turn years of hard work into a college degree. Through the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP), returning workers can now earn a bachelor’s degree by having their professional experience formally recognized.
On April 7, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) launched a new online enlistment system to make the process easier. This system allows OFWs to register, submit requirements, and undergo assessments without leaving their jobs abroad. The program was introduced during the ETEEAP sa Bagong Pilipinas Forum held at Benilde, showing how national policy and institutional innovation can work together.
Benilde has long offered programs that break away from traditional models. Its ETEEAP tracks are designed to be completed in one school year, with flexible schedules and online options that fit the lives of working professionals. Candidates can choose enrichment classes if they want, but the program is built to respect their time and experience.
OFWs who want to join the program can start by registering through CHED’s new online enlistment system. The platform allows them to submit their documents, schedule interviews, and undergo assessments without leaving their jobs abroad. They only need to prepare proof of their overseas work experience, such as employment certificates, training records, or portfolios, which will be reviewed and credited toward their chosen degree.
Benilde also accepts direct applications for ETEEAP. The College screens each candidate’s background and matches it with the program they want to pursue. This setup makes it possible for OFWs to continue working while completing their degree, since the process recognizes prior learning and tailors requirements to each applicant.
Many OFWs headlined the success stories of graduates who marched last February 2026. Their journeys showed how years of overseas work could be transformed into academic achievement through Benilde’s ETEEAP. Professionals in hospitality, information systems, and production design earned their degrees by turning real-world experience into recognized credentials. These graduates proved that persistence and dedication can lead to career growth and the pride of finally completing a diploma after working abroad.
These stories show the heart of Bagong Pilipinas. The program is about people who worked abroad, sacrificed for their families, and now have the chance to walk across the graduation stage with pride. Today, more than 1,400 OFWs are already enrolled under ETEEAP across different fields, showing how wide the reach of this program has become.
Benilde also welcomes families who share the college journey together. One example is professional dancer Rico Rosima, who worked abroad and pursued his degree in Performing Arts through ETEEAP while his daughter Ritamae was enrolled in a traditional undergraduate program. Their shared experience shows how Benilde creates an inclusive environment where OFWs and their children can study side by side, making education a milestone for the whole family.
Benilde continues to serve as a national hub for this journey. By opening its doors to OFWs and professionals, the College shows that education can adapt to real lives and honor the paths people have taken.
