Benilde Receives CHED Recognition, One of the Few Philippine HEIs Recognized Under New CHED ETEEAP Standards

15 June 2026

De La Salle‑College of Saint Benilde was recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) during its 32nd Anniversary Celebration on June 10, 2026 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City. The award honored Benilde’s contributions to lifelong learning and inclusive higher education through the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP). Representing the College at the ceremony were Mr. Angelo Lacson, Vice Chancellor for Academics, and Melbourne Piccio, Head of the Center for Lifelong Learning and Innovative Programs and ETEEAP Coordinator.

Benilde has offered ETEEAP since 2004. Under CHED Memorandum Order No. 11, Series of 2025, the College recently received approval to offer two new deputized programs: the Bachelor of Arts in Photography (AB‑PHOTO) and the Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts (AB‑THA). With these additions, Benilde now offers seven deputized ETEEAP programs, which also include Hospitality and Luxury Management (BS‑HLM), Information Systems (BS‑IS), Music Production (ABMP), Production Design (ABPRD), and Dance (BPAD).

Only six state universities and nine private higher education institutions were recognized during the event. Benilde was cited as a Newly‑Approved ETEEAP Provider under the new standards, a distinction that reflects its capability to carry out rigorous assessment, validation, and accreditation processes that recognize competencies gained through prior learning, work experience, and lifelong learning engagements.

The approval was granted based on Benilde’s capacity to deliver outcomes‑based education, maintain qualified faculty and assessors, establish strong quality assurance mechanisms, and provide comprehensive learner support services essential to ETEEAP’s effective implementation.

This recognition shows Benilde’s commitment to accessible, flexible, and quality higher education for Filipino adult learners. In the citation, the College was noted for contributing to CHED’s vision of “Achieving Knowledge Economy Together for a Future‑Ready Bagong Pilipinas” by expanding educational access, supporting innovative learning pathways, and strengthening workforce and human capital development through lifelong learning.
