PRSP and Benilde Formalize Collaboration for Student Development and Industry Engagement

20 November 2025

De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and the Public Relations Society of the Philippines signed a Memorandum of Understanding on November 5, 2025 at Vatel Restaurant, The Atrium@Benilde Campus. The agreement sets a clear path for cooperation between the academe and the PR industry, opening opportunities for students, faculty, and professionals to work together.

The signing was led by Chancellor Benhur Ong and Vice Chancellor for Academics Angelo Marco Lacson for Benilde, with PRSP President Ma. Luisa P. Sebastian, APR, and PRSP Trustee Steve Michael M. Moore Jr. signing on behalf of the Society. Both institutions committed to student immersion, mentorship, collaborative research, curriculum enhancement, and faculty development. The partnership also covers micro-credentialing, industry workshops, and joint projects that allow students to take on real-world PR challenges.

The ceremony was witnessed by Joana Diñoso, Dean of the School of Management and Information Technology; Franz Jonathan Dela Fuente, PRSP Corporate Secretary and Co-Chair of the Student PR Congress; and Erickson Edgar Jao, Chairperson of BSBA Marketing Management at the School of Management and Information Technology.

Chancellor Ong welcomed the partnership as a meeting of values and vision. He said the collaboration will help shape communicators who are creative, ethical, and socially responsible. He also pointed to the immediate activation of the partnership through the National Student PR Congress held on November 6 and 7, where Benilde served as co-implementor alongside PRSP. The Congress gathered top PR professionals, educators, and students nationwide under the theme “UNMUTED: Live, Loud, and Limitless PR.”

The Student PR Grand Prix was awarded during the Congress, with ABakaTotoo from Benilde Antipolo named Champion, PAMANA from UP Los Baños as First Runner-up, and Balik Aral from DLSU Dasmariñas as Second Runner-up. Special awards for Best Presentation and Best in Activation were also given. The event showcased the talent and creativity of students while reinforcing the importance of ethical and impactful communication.

Beyond the Congress, the partnership also supports Benilde’s academic programs in concrete ways. Business Management and Marketing Management students are expected to benefit most. Their courses already cover public relations, advertising, consumer behavior, sales, and digital marketing. The collaboration with PRSP gives them the chance to apply these lessons in real projects, guided by industry mentors, and to take part in national events that strengthen their preparation for careers in communications, marketing, and business leadership.

Other programs will also gain from the partnership. Human Resource Management students study corporate communication and purposive communication, Real Estate Management students explore global marketing and social media analytics, and Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship students focus on sustainable marketing and advocacy. These subjects highlight communication, leadership, and social responsibility. With PRSP’s involvement, students in these programs will see how their classroom work connects with industry practice, giving them a broader view of how communication supports innovation and impact across different fields.

This isn’t the first time Benilde has engaged with a national professional group. Just last July, the College hosted the Philippine Marketing Association’s Fourth General Membership Meeting. That event brought industry leaders together to talk about new practices and innovation. The new collaboration with PRSP continues that effort and shows Benilde’s role in connecting academe and industry.
