PTC Aviation Agreement Expands Tourism Management with Airline Training Simulations

19 June 2026

Benilde’s School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management signed a five‑year renewable agreement with PTC Aviation Training Center on June 17, 2026. The partnership gives Tourism Management students access to airline training simulations that mirror real service environments.

Inside the Airbus A320 cabin simulators, students rehearse service routines and safety drills. They take part in passenger handling, practice emergency response, and work in teams to mirror real airline service. Training pools and maintenance labs further immerse them in the discipline and precision expected in aviation.

The agreement also opens internships, faculty immersion, and mentorship. PTC Aviation General Manager Rodolfo Santos explained that the center’s philosophy is to give students the EDGE: Educate, Develop skills, Guide, and Empower. “We want to be the aviation training center of choice,” he said, noting that industry professionals will guide students through cabin crew and airline operations.

Microcredentialing is part of the collaboration. Certifications in aviation service protocols and safety procedures are woven into the degree. This follows SHRIM’s earlier launch of microcredentialing with partner organizations in hospitality and food service, where students began earning badges in guest service, food safety, cultural leadership, and entrepreneurship. Dean Dr. Marie Castro described the partnership as a way to connect classroom learning with industry standards. “Hospitality, tourism, and aviation may be distinct industries, but they are united by a common purpose, which is to create exceptional experiences through service excellence,” she said.

The Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management program anchors these initiatives. It offers three specializations: Tourism Creations, Tourism Relations, and Tourism Entrepreneurship. Each track develops distinct skills, from multimedia storytelling to cultural diplomacy to business innovation. Industry linkages such as the PTC Aviation collaboration broaden these pathways by adding aviation service training and certifications, opening more career routes in global travel and airline service.

Benilde has invested in facilities that complement the PTC collaboration. The upgraded Cabin Service Trainer now features business class seats and a lounge, giving students the chance to rehearse premium service routines. Airline internships through Philippine Airlines and aviation modules at TopFlite Academy add more opportunities for hands-on learning.

The partnership is grounded in shared values. PTC Aviation emphasizes excellence, integrity, safety, customer focus, and innovation, while Benilde’s Lasallian tradition highlights nation‑building and service excellence. Together, these principles shape a learning environment that prepares students to grow into competent professionals, service leaders, and responsible global citizens.
