Immersive and practical, AB Film is designed to produce dynamic and versatile graduates with first-hand experience in the production of cinema and film media. Graduates of AB Film will be exposed to every facet of the industry but, by their second year, will specialize in their chosen field; be it scriptwriting, cinematography, producing, post-production, and documentary & non-fiction filmmaking.

The program utilizes various storytelling techniques from all over the world but with an emphasis in leading the students to telling Filipino stories to a global audience. Film is constantly evolving and the program honors tradition while encouraging innovation and fresh ideas.

To public and external partners, the program is branded and recognized by the name BenildeFilm.

Who would play you in the movie of your life?

This course is for you if you want to create films that portray life as it is or as it could be. You will learn to:

  • create engaging stories using a variety of writing and narrative techniques to effectively structure sequences for cinema and broader audiences;
  • articulate the film language in terms of style and form across diverse contexts, from global to Philippine cinema, to advance discourses on film as a cultural medium;
  • manage various types of productions, both individually and collaboratively, to achieve specific goals and objectives effectively;
  • master the use of different equipment and tools essential for executing both the artistic and practical aspects of cinematic work through intentional skill application;
  • advocate for innovative and creative ideas in the production of cinematic works that challenge conventional boundaries of the medium; and
  • maximize the potential of cinema to inspire and promote positive change by championing equality and reflecting societal truths through film.

The School of New Media Arts envisions its academic programs to be the vanguards in creating digital content relevant to the people and society. Guided by prominent faculty, and industry mentors, and supported by the most up-to-date equipment, software tools, and technology in the College, the students experience innovative curricular approaches that enable them to create and explore the field through various media applications and platforms.

Because of the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, there is an increasing demand for technical experts and digital media content creators within most professional industries. And the SNMA Programs are equipped in responding to the rapid expansion and growth of interactive design, animation, film, photography, graphic design, and web design, as they cross various intersections of emerging technologies in art and design.

The School of New Media Arts is projected to become a major player and staple source of highly-skilled creatives. Its graduates are expected to take the lead in creatively responding to the needs and demands of the vast and fertile new media landscape.

Medium and techniques in the School of New Media Arts are categorically unique as they are constantly changing and evolving at an unprecedented pace. 

As they continue to enhance and establish discipline in the fields of animation, film, photography, graphic design, and web design, they cross various intersections of emerging technologies in media arts, interactive design, moving, and sound design, to name a few.

Collaboration and engagement among SNMA Programs can foster substantive collaborations to further enhance the curricula, students’ experiences and exposure, relevant partnerships and linkages, and possible job placements and work opportunities.
