29 July 2025

De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Utah Valley University (UVU) on July 7, 2025, at Vatel Restaurant Manila, Atrium Campus. The agreement formalizes a partnership that will promote academic exchange, collaborative learning, and international engagement between the two institutions.

UVU is the largest public university in Utah, United States, with over 46,000 students. It is known for its dual-mission model, which combines university-level education with community college accessibility. The institution also holds the UNESCO Chair on AI and Environmental Stewardship for Sustainable Futures, recognizing its leadership in ethical innovation and sustainability.

The MOU was signed by Dr. Carl Lorenz Canlas on behalf of UVU. Dr. Baldomero Lago, UVU Chief International Officer, attended the event via video conference. Representing Benilde were Chancellor Benhur Ong, Vice Chancellor for Academics Angelo Lacson, and School of Management and Information Technology Dean Joanna Diñoso.

This partnership reflects our shared belief that education must be inclusive, future-ready, and globally engaged,” Chancellor Ong said during the ceremony. “We look forward to building meaningful programs that will benefit our students and communities.

The agreement will support student and faculty exchange, joint educational initiatives, and cross-cultural collaboration. It is part of Benilde’s ongoing efforts to expand global learning opportunities and strengthen its international academic network.

Benilde currently maintains partnerships with several international institutions, including Manhattan University, University of the Arts Singapore, Vatel Mexico, California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, and La Salle Universitat Ramon Llull in Spain. These collaborations provide Benildean students with access to global classrooms, cultural immersion, and specialized training in various fields.

As we grow our international network, we remain committed to creating opportunities that empower learners to thrive in a changing world,” Chancellor Ong added.
