Vateliens in Progress Gain Honors and Lead Seminar on Integrity

02 December 2025

The Vateliens in Progress (VIP), the student organization of Benilde’s International Hospitality Management program, celebrated a season of achievements with national recognition and a successful leadership seminar.

At the Junior Tourism and Hospitality Management Association of the Philippines (JTHMAP) Juandercon 2025, VIP placed fourth in the Most Outstanding Organization of the Philippines. Henson Maurice Shi also earned third place as the Most Outstanding Hospitality Management Student in the Philippines. Representing the College with pride were Jessica Belle Chua, Julia Ramonelle Curato, Henson Maurice Shi, and Ray Chandler Quan. These recognitions show how the IHM program, shaped by Benilde’s partnership with Vatel Hotel & Tourism Business School in France, prepares students to bring global standards into national competitions while carrying the Filipino brand of hospitality.

The group also received honors at the Center for Social Action (CSA) Awards. Their Paghilom sa Pagkain Cook-off initiative was recognized, along with their role as an Outreach Partner of the CSA. Current President Fiona Sy and former President Claire Jasmine Lim accepted the awards, highlighting the organization’s commitment to creativity, compassion, and community engagement. These projects reflect the program’s focus on socially responsible ventures and service rooted in values.

These recognitions set the stage for VIP’s November seminar, Born to Lead: Leadership with Integrity, held at the Ideation Hall, The Atrium@Benilde Campus. The event featured author and inspirational speaker Jayson Lo and Atty. Karlo Benito Cruz, Co-Founder, President, and CEO of Don Benito’s Group of Companies. Students, faculty, and academic leaders from SHRIM joined the seminar, which focused on building leadership grounded in integrity and values. The seminar echoed what the IHM program teaches every day: leadership with integrity, professionalism, and service that meets international standards.

Guided by IHM Faculty Adviser Mr. Wilbert C. Ong, OIC Chairperson Dr. Glenn Ricaforte, Chairperson Mr. Paolo Sumera, and SHRIM Dean Marie Paz Castro, the Vateliens in Progress continue to show how Benilde’s International Hospitality Management program shapes students who excel in national platforms, serve communities with compassion, and grow as leaders with integrity.
