De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde has partnered with Makati Medical Center and Manila Doctors Hospital to expand access to specialized mental health services for students who need additional support.
Through separate Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) and Agreement (MOA) signed on September 22, 2026, the College established referral arrangements with both hospitals. These partnerships allow the Benilde Well-Being Center (BWC) and guidance personnel to connect students with medical professionals for assessment, consultation, and care.
The BWC provides counseling for academic, career, and personal concerns, along with group counseling and other counseling-related services. Through its interviews and intake process, the center also helps identify students who may benefit from further support.
Under the agreement with Makati Medical Center, Benilde can refer students to developmental pediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other relevant specialists. The hospital will give priority consideration to referred students when scheduling initial consultations and assessments, subject to its existing policies and capacity. The agreement also outlines how the College and hospital will coordinate referrals, secure informed consent, and arrange appointments with parents or guardians.
The partnership with Manila Doctors Hospital provides referred students access to online or in-person psychiatric and psychological services. These include psychiatric consultations, psychotherapy, psychological counseling, and adolescent medicine. The agreement also covers referrals for Benilde employees. It sets procedures for case coordination, confidentiality, and the monitoring of treatment in coordination with the appropriate College offices.
Representing Benilde at both signings were Vice President for Lasallian Mission and Student Life Ms. Nicky Templo-Perez and BWC Director Mr. Neil Barnachea, RGC.
Makati Medical Center was represented by Senior Vice President and Division Head of Creative, Communications and Sales Services Arlyn Songco and Department Manager of Sales Services Mary Ann Lee. Manila Doctors Hospital, under Manila Medical Services, Inc., was represented by President Karl Aaron Dimaano and Finance Director James Roy Pascual.
Through these partnerships, the BWC can connect students who need specialized care with professionals outside the College. The referral arrangements also give students and their families a clearer process for seeking additional support when needed.
As Benilde continues to prioritize the health and well-being of its community, the College actively pursues partnerships with healthcare institutions to expand access to support and services. In July 2026, Benilde also signed an MOU with Medical Center Manila to promote inclusive healthcare and expand internship, employment, and experiential learning opportunities for Deaf learners.
