Three Marketing Management students from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde turned their event ideas into a winning pitch at the Globe Launchpad: Student Grants Pitch Day 2026.
Alyssa Louise Layug, Sofia Marelle Sadiasa, and John Carlo Go of the Benilde Junior Marketing Association (BJMA) earned a spot among the 12 winning teams and placed third in the competition. They also received a cash prize after presenting their ideas at Globe Telecom Plaza in Mandaluyong City. The competition drew 58 contestants and student organizations from more than 70 universities and colleges nationwide.
The students pitched event concepts designed to give their fellow students useful knowledge and industry perspectives. One of their proposals, “Industry Expert Hour: Artificial Intelligence in Practice,” looked at how AI can support human capabilities while encouraging responsible use in academic and professional settings. They also proposed a Digital Marketing Conference covering digital marketing, AI, content creation, branding, and analytics.
The ideas gave the students a chance to work on the kind of marketing problems they can expect to encounter beyond the classroom. The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Marketing Management program teaches students to understand markets, develop marketing campaigns, study consumer behavior, and apply digital marketing concepts. It also trains them to turn ideas into compelling brands and defend their marketing proposals.
Globe Launchpad gave the students a setting where they could put those skills into practice. The program included mentorship sessions and live pitching, with Globe leaders from marketing, communications, human resources, partnerships, and other business units providing feedback on student proposals. Globe described the program as a hands-on experience that mirrors the process of developing and presenting ideas in the real world.
AI became an important part of the students’ pitch as they explored how the technology could shape learning and professional work. The topic also connects with conversations already taking place across Benilde.
In July, Benilde held an AI Ethics Town Hall that brought educators, industry practitioners, and students together to discuss how AI is changing education and creative work. The discussion encouraged students to understand AI, verify information, think critically, and remain involved in the decisions behind their work.
Benilde has also been developing its wider AI roadmap as part of its School of the Future vision. The College has been exploring how AI can support student services, academic advising, analytics, and other areas while keeping people at the center of digital transformation.
For Marketing Management students, that conversation creates new questions about how businesses reach people, build brands, create content, and make decisions. BJMA’s Globe Launchpad pitch gave Layug, Sadiasa, and Go an opportunity to explore one of those questions through an event concept of their own.
Program Chair Erickson Jao, MMC, CPM, mentored the BJMA team alongside Mhendrit Venezuela, MBA, and Paulo Vincent Sandrio, MMC. Jao also shared the students’ achievement as an example of what youth-led marketing and events can bring to an industry setting.
Another Benilde student organization, the Guild of Events Management Students (GEMS), also represented the College and the Marketing Management Program at the competition. Shayne Fernandez, Angelo Rafael Dequito, and Janine Gayol Magtibay presented their own event concept and took part in the same pitch experience.
Globe Launchpad awarded grants to 12 student organizations under its Grand Visionary, Strategic Partner, and Emerging Partner categories. The program gave participants access to industry mentorship, live pitching, funding, digital tools, and other opportunities to develop their ideas further.
For Marketing Management students, experiences like these put their classroom knowledge into situations where they need to understand an audience, develop an idea, communicate its value, and respond to feedback. These are skills they can carry into careers as marketing managers, brand managers, market researchers, advertising executives, sales directors, and entrepreneurs.
