New Master's Degree in Global Governance and Management Begins in AY 2026-2027

22 June 2026

The world is moving through rapid changes. Economies are shifting, technology is reshaping industries, and global challenges are demanding leaders who can think across borders. Organizations today need professionals who understand both the language of business and the dynamics of governance and diplomacy, creating demand for a new generation of leaders with expertise in global governance and management.

Benilde is introducing the Master in Global Governance and Management (MGGM), a new master’s degree in global governance and leadership designed to prepare that new generation of leaders. The program is a joint undertaking of the School of Management and Information Technology (SMIT) and the School of Diplomacy and Governance (SDG). While it is formally housed under SMIT, it carries the imprint of both schools, making it a rare convergence of two academic traditions.

Through SMIT, the program adds governance and diplomacy to the business lens. SMIT has long offered programs like Export and Global Business Management, which train students to manage international markets and technology‑driven industries. Its focus on preparing graduates for the demands of global commerce now flows into MGGM, where business knowledge meets governance and policy.

MGGM also draws from SDG’s strength in diplomacy and governance. SDG, home to the Diplomacy and International Affairs program, responds to globalization and the Fourth Industrial Revolution with training in multi‑track diplomacy, international relations, and governance systems. Its faculty include ambassadors and practitioners, and students engage in simulations, Model UN, and immersion programs abroad. MGGM takes these strengths further by embedding negotiation, policy analysis, and diplomatic practice into its management framework.

Students sharpen the skills that matter most in today’s global environment. They learn to think strategically, analyze evidence, and make decisions with clarity. The program trains them to negotiate and manage conflict, to use digital tools for governance, and to communicate across cultures. It also places strong emphasis on ethical leadership, preparing graduates to guide organizations responsibly in both local and international settings and pursue leadership roles in government, business, and international organizations.

MGGM arrives as a natural continuation of the pathways already offered at Benilde. The program is particularly suited for working professionals, recent graduates, and individuals seeking career advancement in governance, diplomacy, international affairs, and global business. Students already have a range of programs that prepare them for careers with international reach, whether in business, tourism, governance, or diplomacy.

The Export and Global Business Management program gives students the grounding in international business, and MGGM takes that knowledge forward into governance and diplomacy. The Tourism Management program with a track in Tourism Relations introduces students to tourism diplomacy, and MGGM opens the door to policy and organizational leadership. Governance and Public Affairs develops expertise in governance systems, and MGGM adds the perspective of management and strategic foresight. The Diplomacy and International Affairs program specializes in diplomacy, and MGGM extends that training with organizational strategy and leadership.

With these connections, MGGM stands as a welcome addition to Benilde’s graduate programs. It offers graduates of these tracks a clear next step, one that allows them to carry their undergraduate strengths into advanced study and prepare for leadership roles in business, government, and international organizations.

Applications for the inaugural MGGM cohort are now being accepted for Academic Year 2026–2027. Prospective students interested in advancing their expertise in governance, diplomacy, and management are encouraged to apply. To accommodate additional inquiries and applications, the admission deadline has been extended until July 14, 2026, providing aspiring graduate students more time to complete their requirements and join the program’s first intake.
