The blaze keeps on in May as Benildeans came together for moments that celebrated community, creativity, and achievement. The month brought milestones in academics and professional growth, showcased artistry and fresh ideas, and strengthened bonds through gatherings and shared initiatives. Awards, recognitions, and programs kept the energy alive, showing how the Benildean spirit continues to shine across different fields and experiences.
On May 11, Radyo Magasin sat down with Christine Cheryl Benet, director of Slim’s Fashion & Arts School, now part of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. She spoke about the new grant from the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) and what it means for Filipino heirloom jewelry.
The School of Management and Information Technology (SMIT) gathered at Café Romançon, Hotel Benilde on May 8, 2026, to honor the pioneering students of the Bachelor of Science in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship (BS‑SIE) program. The event, called Primus Milestones, recognized the first cohort for setting the tone and building the identity of a program designed to shape future change‑makers.
Carmela Marfori is stepping into the spotlight with Malaya Clara, Malaya Ka Ba?, her first solo exhibition at the NCCA Gallery in Intramuros. Running until May 31, the show invites audiences to explore freedom, identity, and womanhood through sculpture, textiles, and interactive installations.
On May 21, 2026, the Benilde Marketing Center held its Graduate in Focus session online via Zoom. Creative practitioners from different backgrounds joined the session, not only Multimedia Arts graduates but also professionals from other fields who wanted to learn more about the Master of Digital Media program.
From April 27 to 30, 2026, Slim’s Fashion and Arts School hosted TESDA’s Capability Building Program for Prospective Regional Assessors for Garments Production NC II at the Benilde Design + Arts Campus. Trainers and technical experts from different regions came together to prepare for their role as assessors. Once certified, they will be the ones who evaluate future candidates for the NC II credential.
De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, through the joint initiative led by the Benilde School of Arts, Culture, and Performance – SACP in collaboration with the Benilde School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies, has officially signed a three-year partnership with De La Salle ASMC Andres Soriano Memorial College (DLSASMC) in Toledo City, Cebu.
The partnership, which will implement an interdisciplinary Community Arts Empowerment Program, was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement headed by the President and Chancellor of DLSASMC, Ma. Donitha C. Hernando.

The Benilde team also paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Toledo City, Hon. Marjorie P. Perales, who expressed her full support for the initiative, even approving the Toledo City Sports Complex as the official venue for the program’s grand culminating performance in 2028.
On May 23, 2026, Benilde has officially renewed its Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Vatel Nimes, France – Hotel & Tourism Business School. With this continued and strong partnership, our Benildean hospitality students get access to experience world-class, immersive training and international exposure right in Southern France.
Benilde was represented in the MOA renewal by members of its leadership team: President Edmundo “Dodo” Fernandez, FSC; Vice Chancellor for Academics Angelo Marco Lacson; and Dean of the School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management Dr. Marie Paz Castro.










On May 18, 2026, Benilde Music Production program hosted a masterclass series, welcoming two acclaimed Italian composers as mentors:
By bridging classical traditions with futuristic technology, these workshops continue to push the boundaries of creative education here at Benilde, underscoring the College’s commitment to global artistic excellence, equipping students with the tools to innovate in an ever-evolving creative landscape.

From April 10–17, 2026, students from the Benilde School of Diplomacy and Governance (SDG) traveled to Geneva, Switzerland to take part in the United Nations International Project Program, organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in partnership with Ureka Education.
The program blends remote real‑world experience with immersive learning at the heart of international diplomacy and innovation. With support from the Embassy of Switzerland in the Philippines, the students gained firsthand exposure to global institutions, cultures, and policy environments — strengthening Benilde’s commitment to preparing future leaders for international engagement.

We are proud to announce the 100% Passing Rate for our first-time takers in the 2026 Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET), which is way above the national passing rate of 73.10% — truly a performance like no other!
The BenildeFilm is proud to congratulate Lance ‘LA’ Andrade, student and Technology Head of the BenildeFilm Media Committee, for being selected as the sole Philippine representative to the prestigious Roger Hatchuel Student Academy.
After a rigorous application and competitive selection process, LA will join 30 other young creatives from all over the world for a week of learning and collaboration during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity to be held in Cannes, France in June.
Congratulations to Patricia Danielle Malijan from our Bachelor of Science in Interior Design program, for winning the prestigious 2026 Asia-Pacific Grand Prize of the American Standard Design Award (ASDA), last April 2026.
Her winning entry titled “The Humble Home: Quiet Simplicity,” elevates everyday living through an inclusive, adaptable bathroom that supports all ages and abilities through practical design solutions.
The ASDA is an international design competition for next-generation of Interior Design and Architecture students across the Asia-Pacific region. It serves as a launchpad for young creators to solve real-world problems through purposeful design.
Prior to winning the Asia Pacific Grand Prize, Malijan was also declared the National Winner-Philippines of ASDA. Her mentor is IDr. Candice Arboleda.
Congratulations to our Benilde Animation Program Chair, Patrick Astilla, for being elected as a Board Member of the Animation Council of the Philippines Inc. (ACPI).
As a board member of ACPI, he will work alongside other animation industry leaders in terms of policy-making, industry advocacy, as well as academia and global partnerships to promote Filipino animation talent on the world stage.
ACPI is the leading non-profit organization dedicated to the growth and development of the animation industry in the Philippines.










On May 15, 2026, Benilde Hub for Innovation and Inclusion (HiFi) celebrated its 10th Anniversary in time for the commemoration of St. John Baptist de La Salle as the Universal Patron Saint of Teachers.
The Benildean Community gathered at the Peter D. Garrucho Jr. Innovations Institute Building for the General Assembly, followed by the HiFi X Awarding ceremony which honored the brilliant minds actively advocating for social innovation.
In the afternoon, an Open House was held with guests getting treated to live busking sessions, guided tours, and the opportunity to play-test at Beta Playground, where they can try first-hand the games developed by HiFi’s Game Dev Interns.












Dance the Night Away, the summer concert festival held for the Benildean Community last May 21, 2026 at the HiFi Parking Grounds.
Performers included Saint Benilde Romançon Dance Company – Hip-Hop, Every Good Boy Does Fine, Miss Poblaxion, Popovy Automata, Eros, FINA, XVRYL and Itchyworms.
UNITE 2026 is organized by Benilde Center for Student Life Student Trainers and Stage Production Operations Team.









From May 20–22, 2026, the DrawINK Convention took place at the 12/F Cafeteria, Design + Arts Campus, featuring an Artist Alley where student artists and established comic book creators presented their works. The event was open to the public, offering a vibrant platform for creativity and collaboration.
Organized by DrawINK, the premier comic organization of De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde, the convention is known for celebrating Filipino comic artistry and pop culture. It regularly brings together local illustrators, cosplayers, and creative practitioners, with highlights such as panel discussions on the digital comic landscape and cosplay competitions judged by professional artists and performers.
Sean Granada, captain of the Benilde Blazers Golf Team, proved unstoppable on the green by securing the back‑to‑back Champion title at the 2026 ICTSI Intercollegiate Tour – Individual Men’s Division.
Granada has consistently raised the Benildean banner high, combining precision and hard work to deliver extraordinary performances. His latest triumph reinforces his reputation as one of the country’s most promising young golfers and highlights Benilde’s growing presence in collegiate sports.
The Benilde Blazing Tracksters capped off the season with a blazing haul on the track, earning an impressive 4 gold, 7 silver, and 8 bronze medals. Their relentless effort across sprints, hurdles, and every finish line secured the team the Overall 2nd Runner‑Up title — a testament to their grit and Benildean pride.
Among the standout performers was VICJARDI TAPIA, whose debut season was nothing short of extraordinary. He claimed the titles of Rookie of the Year and Freshman of the Year at the NCAA 101 Athletics Tournament, while also bringing home five medals. His achievements mark the beginning of a promising collegiate career and highlight the future of Benilde athletics.

The Benilde Blazers Golf Team brought home a championship that will be remembered for years. After months of practice and persistence, they rose above the competition and showed what discipline and teamwork can achieve.
Every swing and every putt carried the spirit of the team, and when the final ball dropped, history was made. The Blazers proved that with focus and heart, the course belongs to them.

On May 7 2026, the Benildean Community celebrated Mother’s Day with the theme “Celebrating Mothers: Honoring Love in All its Forms” at The Loop, 12/F, Design + Arts Campus.
Benildean mothers from our Faculty and Associate groups participated in the event, where they were treated to a simple salo-salo lunch and short program.
The event was organized through the collaboration of the following Benilde Offices: People and Organization Development Office (PODO), Center for Restorative Discipline (CRD), and Benilde Well-Being Center (BWC).






On April 30 and May 6, 2026, the Center for Built Environment and Logistics (CBEL) brought fresh greens from the Rooftop Garden of Peace at the Atrium, Design + Arts Campus to offices across the Taft Campus. What started as simple seeds, cared for with patience, has grown into harvests that now nourish both people and purpose.
These shared meals remind us how small, steady efforts can make a lasting difference. CBEL’s project encourages a more sustainable way of living and strengthens the sense of community that makes Benilde thrive.
On June 26, 2026 (Friday), 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the Benilde Marketing Center (BMC) will host the Benilde Preview: BS‑REM 2D Program via Zoom. The session will introduce the Bachelor of Science in Real Estate Management as a Second Degree Program, designed to support professionals aiming to advance their careers and prepare for licensure in the real estate field.
The preview will feature Engr. Mark Jayson de Jesus, ECE, REB, Chairperson of the SMIT‑LMEC Real Estate Management Program, who will share insights on how the program builds pathways for growth in the industry.
On June 25, 2026 (Thursday), 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, the Benilde Marketing Center (BMC) will host the Benilde Graduate Program in Focus via Zoom. The session will highlight postgraduate studies in Tourism and Hospitality, showing how these programs prepare professionals to thrive amid changing traveler expectations, emerging technologies, sustainability priorities, and global developments.
The session will feature Associate Professor Dr. Teddy S. Manansala, Chairperson of SHRIM, who will share insights on the Master of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management (MSTHM), the Doctor in Tourism and Hospitality Management (DTHM), and the Doctor of Philosophy in Tourism and Hospitality Management by Research (PhD‑THM by Research).
Admission for the first term of Academic Year 2026–2027 has been extended, with the deadline set on June 16, 2026.
Admission deadline for transferees, second‑degree takers, graduate studies, and ETEEAP for the First Term of AY 2026-2027 has been extended to July 14, 2026.
